The U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC) provides committed, visionary leadership and advocacy in the realization of economic empowerment. Through the creation of resources and initiatives, we support African American Chambers of Commerce and business organizations in their work of developing and growing Black enterprises.

The U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. Five Pillars of Service are the cornerstone of our platform. They represent issues that greatly impact the growth of Black-owned businesses in America and, consequently, form the foundation of the USBC agenda. Advocacy

The USBC fights for legislation that promotes small business growth, particularly policies that address the challenges of Black business owners. We understand the importance of maintaining a bipartisan approach to advocacy, and hence, collaborate with policymakers from all political affiliations to advocate for policies that best serve the interest of the Black community.

Access to Capital Capital access remains the most important factor limiting the establishment, expansion and growth of Black-owned businesses. The USBC works with financial institutions, particularly Black-owned institutions, to create avenues by which Black businesses can gain greater access to credit, capital and other financial instruments.

Contracting At the USBC, our goal is to level the playing field by helping members gain access to business opportunities in the private and public sectors. We accomplish this by educating members on contract opportunities, helping them increase their capacity to vie for large scale contracts, and offering resources and information that enhance Black owners’ ability to compete.

Entrepreneur Training The USBC is committed to helping Black business leaders achieve stellar performance and growth through entrepreneur and business management training. Hence, we deliver quality educational opportunities and professional development resources that help our members manage and grow successful businesses.

Chamber Development The growth and development of Black chambers of commerce is a core focus of the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. As such, we leverage our role as a national organization, provide technical assistance and leadership training to member chambers, assist with the establishment of new Black chambers, and facilitate the sharing of best practices and industry data among our members. To do this, we utilize a variety of mechanisms including, training, web-based tools, peer networking, coaching, and information products.

Work performed for BP

BP reached out to Brian of USBC with a request to have a USBC member travel to their office to trouble shoot error issues with the (2) APC XR modules attached to their APC LX UPS located in the second floor server room. After four hours of being on location, our team corrected the issue. They communicated that an HVAC failure had occurred creating a high temp issue and that maintenance had shut down the UPS. Upon restoring air conditioning and powering up the UPS, it was noted that both XR units would not restore and showed error codes. Upon arrival, we noted that the LX unit appeared to be operating normally with no error codes. However, both XR units were in error which would indicate a loss of communication to the main unit. Our team pulled up the code information and attempted to reseat the communication cards located in the top rear of the XR units. The reseat procedure failed to restore communication to the units. We called the APC tech line and went through the procedure once again to affirm our suspicion that the cards had been cooked due to the overheat condition the units had been placed in during the outage. We requested information concerning replacement cost for the communication cards (Approx $500 each) and we asked if there was an existing warranty. We were informed that the units were manufactured in 2007 and that any and all warranties had expired in 2017. We told them for the short haul that we would most likely replace the comm cards and then request proposals for replacement of the units under the APC “Trade-in” program.

Fashion

"It wasn't until I joined the United States Black Chambers, Inc., that I learned about the benefits of partnering with others in my industry. Brian Morse connected me with ChokoMode, the fashion brand from New York. ChokoMode's designer Marcell and I have been able to make money together with our consignment sales. Since then, I made my retail space available for several other designer's in my local community to sell ChokoMode's merchandise. It's a win, win, win because my retail customers in southern California can now add New York fashion to their LA shopping experience with Ali Don®." U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.'s Member, Aliyah Donaldson of Ali Don, Inc.

Walmart!

"The life of an entrepreneur can indeed be very hard, but it is made easier when one has the support and help of a dynamic organization. One of the best in offering access, support and guidance is the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.! USBC provided information on applying to Walmart’s Open Call last year. Shoe Crazy Wine was given access to the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.'s expertise in our journey in preparing for the most important of meetings for us. The meeting was with Walmart buyers at Walmart’s headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas. We were ready and confident thanks to the support of Brian Morse of the USBC team, our team's perseverance, tenacity, faith and family. We were accepted on the spot to have our Shoe Crazy Wine on Walmart's shelves." U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.'s member, Gwen Hurt of Shoe Crazy Wine.
