When it comes to managing your finances, “If you don’t plan, you plan to fail.” Wise words spoken by Mr. Edward D. Williams, spearhead behind DEW Financial Management Group. A graduate of North Carolina A & T University, Williams holds a B.S in Mathematics. Albeit intimidating for those who are unfamiliar with managing finances, as a Managing Partner & the Senior Financial Consultant at DEW Financial Management Group, Williams is a well-informed, well equipped individual who understands the importance of getting one’s ‘financial house’ in order. After investing 10 plus years in the financial services industry at Citi Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Williams decided he’d utilize both his experience and education and branch off from these companies and begin his own financial management group.

Williams was well on his way to offering the resource that is financial management. He admits that he encountered a familiar brick wall as many of his entrepreneurial peers, and that is, not having enough start up money. “The first three years are critical.” Williams reflects. “Financial management is like having a coach. Someone to teach you and prepare you for the distance.” DEW Financial Management Group specializes in Insurance, Investment, Wealth Management and Retirement. These four sectors cover both personal and professional financial matters.

Williams offers some sage advice for startups: 1) Be entrepreneurial minded. 2) Be prepared financially for the first three years of business. A nest egg that will provide financial protection for your personal and professional lives, especially during times when the business doesn’t turn a favorable profit. 3) Be people oriented! Know that you’ll need to connect with the community to be seen, so that when an individual is in need of a particular good or service, they’ll think of you.

DEW Financial Management Group boasts a clean FINRA record. Williams is a member of the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce, he proudly supports, the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., the NAACP, Association of African American Advisors, the Salvation Army and Kappa Scholarship Foundation.
